About Us

     Art Fights Back came about in the wake of the pandemic after witnessing many brilliant artists fall victim to the opioid epidemic.  Artists and drugs have always coexisted, but this particular crisis had reached a critical point that required an active response.  

    On August 1st, 2026, in Downtown Los Angeles, six artists and friends joined together to clean up several blocks of the city on one of the hottest days of the year.  An amazing bond grew out of the effort, as well as an immediate sense of accomplishment.   In the spirit of community, we committed to continue our cleaning and beautification.

    We believe in the value of The Artist to uplift neighborhoods and culture.  As our name suggests, we believe that art itself has the power to fight against the destructive elements in our society: war, hate, drug addiction and depression.

    By means of beautification and collaboration with artists in Los Angeles, we strive to be an artist sanctuary – to provide a safe, drug-free environment. 

    One of our projects includes reclaiming paper materials and turning them into art supplies and then providing local artists with these supplies to transform their community.  Long-term, we hope to have meaningful events that are free for the public to attend – gallery showcases where refreshments are healthy, non-alcoholic alternatives.  We recognize the positive power of art and the pivotal role of the sober artist.

    Using positivity and creative expression, Art Fights Back will take a collective stand against war, intolerance, corruption and general human suffering.  Art Fights Back for Los Angeles.
